Additional requirements for candidates with foreign documents

Attention! Pursuant to the Act of 4 April 2025 amending certain acts in order to eliminate irregularities in the visa system of the Republic of Poland, the rules for admitting the group of foreigners specified in the aforementioned Act to first-cycle studies, long-cycle studies and second-cycle studies will change. The recruitment rules in the academic year 2025/2026 will be adapted to the new regulations.

According to the Act of April 4th, 2025, amending certain acts to eliminate irregularities in the visa system of the Republic of Poland:

  1. A foreigner undertaking first-cycle studies or long-cycle studies based on the administrative decision of the rector, who holds a foreign educational document (excluding IB and EB diplomas) issued in a country that is not a member of the EU, EFTA, OECD and is not a party to an international agreement, is obliged to:
    • present a document issued abroad together with written information from the director of NAWA concerning this document;
    • present a document certifying the knowledge of the language in which the studies are conducted at least at B2 level;
    • present a positive result from the entrance exam testing the knowledge necessary to undertake studies at a given level.
  1. A foreigner undertaking second-cycle studies based on the administrative decision of the rector, who holds a foreign diploma issued in the country outside of the UE, EFTA, OECD and which has not been recognized as an equivalent to the Polish relevant diploma on the basis of an international agreement or through the nostrification process during recruitment is obliged to:
    • present a foreign Diploma of Higher Education together with written information from the director of NAWA concerning this diploma;
    • present a document certifying the knowledge of the language in which the studies are conducted at least at B2 level.

  • submitting the NAWA’s Director individual recognition statement on a foreign document / administrative decision of the Education Superintendent (in the case where the proceedings for the recognition of a foreign document were initiated before June 30, 2025.)
